The Spoonleaved Sundew, scientifically referred to as Drosera spatulata, is a petite, perennial carnivorous plant that forms flat, rosette-shaped clusters of red traps adorned with numerous tentacles. Notably, the longest tentacles are situated at the leaf tips and can swiftly ensnare prey in as little as 10 seconds. The leaf coloration often features a scarlet red hue, although it can vary from orangey-green to maroon. This charming tropical plant maintains its traps year-round and exhibits adaptability to a wide range of growing conditions. Nevertheless, it thrives in open, sun-drenched, and marshy settings with peaty soils.

The Spoonleaved Sundew produces pink blossoms on multi-flowered scapes, and typically, several scapes are present simultaneously, with a long-lasting display. While it can bloom at various times throughout the year, it tends to flower more profusely during the summer months. Furthermore, it generously yields seeds that readily germinate in nearby containers, making it an excellent companion plant for your desired species. This adaptable plant can thrive as an advantageous addition to your carnivorous plant collection and has the potential to become a delightful “weed” within it. You can sow its seeds immediately or store them in cool, dry conditions for a year or more. Stressed plants can also regenerate from the rootstock. The Spoonleaved Sundew is an exceptional choice for terrariums, making it a reliable performer for your plant collection, particularly suited for beginners. D. spatulata was first scientifically documented in 1792, and this selection originates from seeds, offering some genetic diversity.

When ordering, please be aware that plants are shipped bare-root and meticulously wrapped in damp sphagnum moss. The provided photographs represent the general characteristics of the species, rather than the specific plant you will receive.

My 3 Sundew arrived quickly and packaged perfectly. Thank you! Unfortunately, my old eyes aren't what they used to be and these are so tiny, I can't tell if they are planted correctly. They don't seem to be opening up and are still in the ball like when I unwrapped them. I wish you had an unpacking video like my VFT. But it's not your fault I can't see them.

Hi, I potted the sundews I bought in sphagnum moss I previously bought from you.  I recently noticed grass-like growths sprouting. They don't look like they are sundews.  Maybe something hitch-hiked along with the sundews. Attached are pictures. Any thoughts on what's growing Reed From Customer Service: It's just grass.
