Pinguicula Gigantea (Giant Butterwort)

$28.00

You say “gigantea,” I say “gigantic.” Pinguicula gigantea lives up to its name as the largest known Mexican butterwort with a diameter of around one foot. This ping is easy-growing, and does well outdoors at the author’s Northern California residence. The plant was discovered in 1987 by Alfred Lau in Oaxaca, Mexico growing on sheer cliffs in direct sun. You’ll often find them sharing space with Tillandsias.

Mature plants of this species reach about 12″ across in leaf span, making this the king of all Pinguicula!

Of the carnivorous plants, Pinguicula is very adept at catching small fungus gnats that might exist in your other plant’s potting mix. You can water from above, or below since the foliage covers the entire pot surface. Here at our nursery they just get doused with a water wand and it works fine!

    Hi Michael,

We've several email exchanges. So here is the current set up, one sundew when it came was pretty much damage, after a week I planned it outside. (Attached 1)

Others were pretty much all fine. Oh I did have an order with missing plants, but that was taken care of with Joel, thanks.

Now my husband ordered plants for me too, he used FedEx next day. I'm not sure if they were all good. (Attached 2). He said one were crashed but I still potted it and see how it goes.

And this is my current set up, all are from Joel and your site. (Attached 3)

Thank you very much for following up. I'll keep buying from your site and buy them as presents too.

    Sincerely,

    Pauline
